One of your opponents, a guy who’s been limping since the flop, suddenly drops a big raise on the river leaving everyone at the table, you included, with their jaws hanging limp and their eyes wide. What’s even worse about this is, you’re next in position. You have to react.

Should You Drink at the WSOP?

Take a quick look at the ESPN coverage of the WSOP last year, and the year before, and you will see a lot of Starbucks coffee cups sitting in front of players, but not so many beer bottles. Part of this could be with the fact that many of the events start around noon, but also players may be looking for something to stimulate them rather than mellow them, an important distinction when you face marathon days of poker playing and you want to be at your best.

GUKPT Winner Poker Pro El Blonde

The UK poker pro know as “El Blonde” has broken a streak of over a year without a major tournament win, thanks to his performance in the fourth event of the Grosvenor United Kingdom Poker Tour. Dave Colclough, who has appeared in the World Poker Tour’s Paris event, took down the competition to win £88,000 as the first place finisher. Japan Announces All-Japan Poker Tournament

While the World Series of Poker has been confined to the United States in the past and the World Poker Tour has stops only in the States, France, and the Bahamas, many countries are launching their very own poker tours, such as the recently announced All-Japan Poker Championship. The event, conceived by the All-Japan Poker Championship Committee, will be a No Limit Texas Holdem event and will take place in Tokyo, Japan on June 2 and 3, with the winner taking home a seat to the WSOP in Las Vegas this year.
