GSN’s HIGH STAKES POKER (”HSP”) continues to be the richest cash game in history on television and the last seven episodes in season IV have up to and over $5 million on the table. HSP IV premieres on Monday, August 27 at 9 PM ET/8 CT from South Point Hotel and Casino in Las Vegas, Nevada. This season features 17 episodes up from 13 episodes in season III.

Women Prove Their Mettle at Everest Poker Japan Cup Qualifiers

Online poker room Everest Poker announced recently that two of the winners of their Japan Cup Qualifier events were women, an occurrence that property manager Jonathan May called statistically “remarkable.” At the June 23 Japan Cup live qualifier at Bar Jack in Tokyo the winner was Everest Poker player Marisuke, and the June 30th qualifier in Osaka was won by player Akemin. May pointed out that they were aware that Japanese women were becoming more involved with the game, but found the appearance of two winners impressive. Las Vegas Pro Am Poker Tourney

While the World Series of Poker is the captain of the poker ship in Las Vegas this week and next, there are other poker events going on in Sin City, including The Small Town Poker Tour Pro Am Championship Series. The event took place on Friday, July 13, at the South Point Hotel, Casino & Spa. As do all Small Town Poker Tour events, the Pro Am had a benefiting charity, the Las Vegas children’s charity, Corps of Compassion, which provides meals to at-risk children in the Las Vegas area…

Brenes is a 55 year old businessman from Costa Rica, but most poker fans don’t care about that. They care whether or not Brenes is at a table they are watching, and they care a lot.
