Police Raid Poker Club For Illegal Gambling (KTHV Little Rock)

Just before 9:00 pm Sunday night undercover Little Rock Police officers raided a poker club. Five people have been arrested. Police tell us they served a search warrant and are right now in the process of confiscating the tables and other equipment used at the NPC poker room on Reservoir.

ATLANTIC CITY — An illegal sports gambling ring run out of a high-stakes poker room in an Atlantic City casino was busted Wednesday and 23 people were charged, including four with mob ties.

Poker operator found liable to pay $19,246 to commercial cleaner (Saipan Tribune)

The Department of Labor has ordered a poker operator to pay $19,246.08 in unpaid overtime wages and liquidated damages to a commercial cleaner who was required to work as a poker cashier with no days off for one year.

Poker Pro Sheikhan Not Deported Yet

Poker pro Sharam Sheikhan, better known as Shawn Sheikhan, was arrested on August 30th and held for one week (released on a $10k bond) in preparation to deport him thanks to a Homeland Security maneuver that removes foreign nationals convicted of sex crimes. In 1995 Sheikhan was arrested and charged with misdemeanor sexual battery charges, but thanks to the Contra Costa County practice of not keeping misdemeanor files for more than ten years, a U.S. Immigration Court Judge could not tell if he was actually convicted of the crime…

Florida Poker Room Doing Well

The poker room at the Sarasota Kennel Club in Florida has expanded over the last year - since they opened - going from 24 to 32 poker tables, and it may expand yet again. The poker room has been doing well, due in part to the decline in racing popularity, with more people interested in playing Texas Holdem poker than betting on dogs. Racing during the summer has been suspended completely, with the Club subsiding on the custom they get at the poker room alone…
