Avoiding Small Man Syndrome

When somebody is sitting in the small blind spot at the poker table, it would seem the need to overcompensate for the word “small” occasionally forces them to behave in an aggressive manner that is out of place considering their current position at the table.

In yesterday’s editorial we talked about how dramatic an effect a holiday regiment of poker and feasting can have on one’s posterior, and subsequently their love life. Well this idea seems to have gotten an enthusiastic “hear hear!” from Annie Duke, who in a recent interview talked about the need for nutrition and exercise as an appropriate way to approach a profession where the most grueling physical test one faces is if their right cheek falls asleep before the flop when you are sitting in the big blind.

Tilting Your Opponents

Going on tilt is the worst thing you can possibly do when playing poker. You will lose if you go on tilt, unless you quickly pull yourself out of that position. The opposite is equally true. If you can get your opponents to go on tilt, you will win unless they can take control of their playing and slow down.

Court to rule on poker machines (Bendigo Advertiser)

THE Supreme Court has reserved its decision on whether an injection of poker machines into the central Victorian town of Romsey goes ahead. The Macedon Ranges Shire has fought the Romsey Hotel’s decision to install 30 electronic gaming machines.

Online Poker Room Hit with €4.3 Million Claim by Swedish Government

The battle for poker supremacy continues in Sweden as the country’s tax authority, Skatteverket, makes a claim of €4.3 million against the first online poker sites in Sweden. Multipoker.com was hit with the SEK40 million claim because, according to the Swedish National Economic Crimes Bureau Skatteverket, Multipoker.com’s offices in the British Virgin Islands were only a front. Let us say that your hole cards include a King of Hearts and King of Clubs. This is a good start. It gets better if one of the two remaining Kings shows up on the flop. This obviously gives you three Kings and puts you in the driver’s seat for this hand. So what do you do?
