In Anchorage, Alaska there is a once-a-year winter celebration called Fur Rendezvous, and this year poker has been added to the mix of festivities. More than 200,000 people are expected to show in downtown Anchorage for the February events, partially for the $10k World Series of Poker main event seat prize package that will be up for grabs. The Dragon grabbed this honor when he won the No Limit Holdem event at the Five Diamond World Poker Classic and more than $279,000. In an open letter to the poker industry and fellow poker players online poker pro Josh Field apologizes. Field, better known by his online handle of “JJProdigy”, has supposedly earned hundreds of thousands of dollars in the last few years playing online poker, and has been involved in a number of scandals in the industry. Field has just recently turned 18 - and his apology is mostly about his handling of these situations, which he blames on his immaturity over the years…

The surprise hit poker show on NBC is Poker After Dark, a show that airs in most cases at two in the morning, and features six poker pros fighting for a $120,000 prize, to which they each contributed $20k. The show will start its third season on December 31st, and the network recently announced who would be on the show. Fans will get to see Daniel Negreanu, Phil Hellmuth, Jennifer Harman, Mike Matusow, Scotty Nguyen and Ken Light in what is being called the “Dream Table” week…

The Card Player Media Player of the Year race has been officially won by David “The Dragon” Pham, but what about the Online Poker Player of the Year race? In the lead is Isaac “westmenloAA” Baron, but his recent surge in points does not give him the lead that Pham had over his competition, and Matt “ch0ppy” Kay is breathing down Baron’s virtual neck. Baron has 8,304 points over Kay’s 8,278, so it looks like Baron will be going for any big win to keep himself out in front. The last two people of Asian decent to proudly sport the nickname, “The Dragon”, were Bruce Lee and professional wrestler Ricky Steamboat. Let’s face it these two could have called themselves Shirley Temple or Liberace for all it mattered: both of these men could easily mess up the body of an antagonist in ways that only a good, stout Cuisinart could successfully replicate.

It had been a long tough battle. At the final table six great players did their best to win, but in the end there could be only one. A Frenchman, a Swiss player, two Danes and two from Finland had all tried, and then it was down to one Finn and one Dane.
