It looked for a long while like it wasn’t going to happen, but recently the first ever poker-only card room in England opened its doors, ready to live up to its name, Dusk Till Dawn. Thursday was the day that the doors opened, and to honor the event a number of poker tournaments were held. The poker tournament has only been going for a few hands and you flop top pair with a weak kicker. You are the last to act and it gets checked to you, so you bet half the pot and get one caller. The turn is no help, so you bet about half the pot again, and again get called. The river isn’t doing anything for you, and you still only have a top pair. You bet half the pot again and then wait, heart thumping in your chest, waiting for the other player to push you all in, signifying that he has you beat all along.

Harrah’s Entertainment, currently owners of the World Series of Poker brand and franchise, put in a bid for 28 percent of UK based land and online gambling group Rank Plc, but were turned down. The offer, which would have exchanged Harrah’s UK casino holdings for the chunk of ownership, was rejected despite Rank’s shares having taken a hit when gaming machine removal and smoking bans have hurt their business in the United Kingdom.
