Holdem for the Holidays with the Flying Dutchman

The poker pro known as The Flying Dutchman has joined forces with The World Poker Store Inc to put on “Holdem for the Holidays”, a free Texas Holdem tournament that will be held on Friday, December 7th. The event, to be held at The World Poker Store’s latest store in Washington state, will kick off after a meet and greet at 5 PM. Comedian Comes Out Against Poker Raids

Comedian Drew Carey is a poker player and recently he put up a show concerning a poker raid in Texas that he thought was a bit over the top. His online program, Reason TV, can be found on YouTube, and this particular episode has gotten a lot of play among poker players. Carey, who called poker “as American as apple pie”, detailed the Dallas raid on a Veteran of Foreign Wars poker tournament, where the VFW was trying to raise money in support of a child who had died in connection with drugs…

Goodbuy “Chip”

A good chunk of the poker world was shocked to learn of the untimely death of David “Chip” Reese. Perhaps the greatest testament in the world to this great player was that nobody wanted him playing at their table. Despite his reputation as a rather pleasant fellow, Chip would often treat a ring game like a playground where he was the biggest bully around.

Telling the Tells of a Teller

By the time most players are at the river, they are so emotionally invested in the hand, and so focused that you will learn very little by studying their face and body. Unless your opponent is Erica Schoenberg and you are staring out of the sheer aesthetic joy she provides, give up on trying to figure tells out when the hand has progressed this far.
