Inaugural Latin American Poker Tour Warms Up

It looks like poker is about to break open in eight Latin American countries as the inaugural Latin American Poker Tour warms up for a 2008 season. The LAPT 2008 will see poker tournaments in Ecuador, Peru, Venezuela, Dominican Republic, Puerto Rico, Panama, Colombia and Costa Rica. At the end of the season one player will be crowned by winning a Tournament of Champions event…

Poker Bribes Bring Down Sheriff

Thursday saw an indictment unsealed that fingered former Buncombe County Sheriff Bobby Medford, charging Medford and three former deputies with participation in an illegal video poker ring. According to prosecutors, the Sheriff and his deputies were assisting video poker operators via non enforcement of the law, not to mention accepting money to protect the illegal video poker ring. 39th World Series of Poker Starts with Championship Event

The traditional way to wrap up a season of the World Series of Poker is to play the $10,000 championship event, but this next season will be run a bit differently: they are going to start the season with a $10,000 championship event. They are still ending the WSOP with the Main Event, a $10,000 No Limit Holdem championship event, but they are planning on more than one.
