One of the world’s largest online poker rooms recently set the record for number of cash ring game players seated at the tables, a good sign as some see it that the online poker industry is here to stay. The poker room in question is Poker Stars and it did not seem to be suffering much from the many hits the industry has taken over the last year, including the Unlawful Internet Gambling Enforcement Act in the USA that caused many poker rooms to shut down or ban US players. The Phoenix Suns player Shawn Marion will be hosting a poker event at the end of next month to bring in the bucks for charity. The event, titled the Hearts and Helmets poker event, will allow poker players to mingle with a number of sports stars from the Suns and the San Antonio Spurs. There will be gold medalists from the Olympics and TV and movie celebrities on hand as well…

When Ted Moustakis of New Jersey put out $6,000 for a poker visor it was one he thought was worn by the android Data on the set of the Star Trek: The Next Generation show. The actor who played Data, Brent Spinner, told Moustakis when they met at a convention, that he has sold that visor to a private auction, which meant that the visor Ted bought was a fake. Ted is suing auction house Christie’s for fraud…
