Choosing a Limit

Published by webmaster under Blog Posts

Sometimes the strategy of the game of poker goes beyond the Xs and Os of the game, and the tactical plotting about how to get somebody who probably has a full house to fold their cards in the face of your muscular pair of 2s.

Double Deuces

Published by webmaster under Blog Posts

Double deuces is like a double edged sword. On one side, you have yourself a pair, and that’s always decent. On the other side, you have the worst pair possible, and pairs aren’t really strong hands to win with. Getting double deuces almost feels like an insult. Couldn’t it have been fours at least, or threes? The question is: can you win with double deuces? The answer is: yes, you can and no, it’s not likely.

Pub poker is not a new idea. As long as there has been poker, people have been playing it in pubs, and the idea of organizing these games into a league has been around for a while. Online poker isn’t new anymore, either. What is new is a live pub poker league moving online, and that is just what The Nuts Poker League has done.

Published by webmaster under Blog Posts

The Maine Snowmobile Association was all set to support as many as 30 snowmobile clubs to host fundraising poker runs this winter, but those plans have changed. The events had to be canceled when the clubs got the word that they would have to buy a gambling license to run them. What was to be a fun event became bogged down with paperwork and regulations, and these non profit events would have to shell out money to take place…

Poker All Day Long

In Canada, the Century Casino & Hotel in Edmonton has recently reported via press release that their new non-stop, 24-hour poker room has been a success. With more people coming to play and more money flowing into the casino’s coffers it looks like the all poker, all day, every day concept is a good one that will continue. Texas Holdem poker tournaments are held weekly on Thursdays and Sundays while cash games – sometimes called ring games – run all the time…

Published by webmaster under Blog Posts

There will be thirty tables to start off play at the 2008 NBC National Heads Up Poker Championship, which means they need 60 poker pros to agree to play, but the problem with the NBC show was not in getting enough players but narrowing the list down. Plenty of big names will be on hand to play, including many of those that have won the World Series of Poker over the last twenty years. The most recent champ, Jerry Yang, will be on hand, one of his few appearances since winning the 2007 WSOP…

Florida Inmates Play Poker with Cold Case Cards

Decks of cards were handed out last year to Florida prison inmates with wanted felons printed on them in hopes of dredging up new leads, and now a new deck is being unveiled with cold case info. The 52 card deck has local cold cases profiled on each card, and police are hoping that the people that might know the most will be forthcoming with information if they see something that jogs their memory while they play poker. Coaxing Money from the Conservative Player

Published by webmaster under Blog Posts

As we know, in the game of poker all the talk of strategy, bluffing, tells, etc. are about one thing: making money. Most people don’t get into casino or competitive poker for the purpose of giving away their paychecks. Anybody who does that sort of thing probably also uses a cactus as a loofa.

Dueling Strip Clubs

Published by webmaster under Blog Posts

Most people who take poker playing seriously will eventually wind up in the city of Las Vegas. This is something that is way beyond their rational control. Even if they have a personal aversion to neon or Elvis, sooner or later they will come to Sin City like a salmon driven instinctively upstream. Most men who come to Vegas to play poker will celebrate a dramatic loss at the tables in the same manner that they commemorate a stunning financial victory against the house: they will visit one the city’s many strip clubs.
