WPT Hires Magician

The pro poker player known as “the Magician” has been hired to work some magic for the World Poker Tour. Antonio Esfandiari, who was a pro magician before he became a pro poker player, was hired once before by the WPT to perform magic with cards and coins, and has been hired once more to perform a different kind of magic. They say that the best poker style to play a game like No Limit Texas Holdem is Tight Aggressive. This means that a player does not get involved in too many pots (that makes them tight versus loose) and when they take action, they bet hard (that makes them aggressive instead of passive.)

Fake Outs

When you fake someone out, you trick them. It is the same thing as a bluff. An out in poker is someone’s chance of developing a hand. When it looks like you are going to develop your hand the way you want it to, it is a fake out. It is the same thing as the game bluffing you.

Going Nuts

We have all seen it: someone delivers a bad beat to Phil Hellmuth, and he calls them a donkey then proceeds to throw a tantrum that would embarrass a two-year-old. During his tirade he usually berates his competition for daring to go all the way to the river with inferior cards. Not folding when you should really sends Phil over the edge. Of course after having a good cry, he generally comes back and breaks the person who has upset him to the point of going tilt.
