Some people when asked what the world’s oldest profession is will blush and get silly little grin on their face; others will think about it for a moment and then say that farming is the oldest human vocation. Trapping with a Raise and a Smooth Call

In poker, a smooth call is something you do when you are trying to trap your opponent and get them to feed the pot with their hard earned money. For example, in pre-flop betting if you are in the late position, but not the last to act, and you have a pair of aces, you may want to encourage action without tipping off how strong your position is. If you are at an aggressive and loose table, chances are pretty good that somebody will not only call the big blind, but raise. In the event that someone raises, you will re-raise them with your pair of Aces.

Company Advertises Ease for Poker Players’ Woes

WPT Event Won by Lee Markholt

A final table that sported players like Phil Ivey, Michael Mizrachi and David Pham could be one of the toughest poker tournamets around, and that was just what Lee Markholt faced when he played in the World Poker Challenge, a World Poker Tour event. Poker After Dark - Sometimes You Just Shouldn’t Bluff

Choose Your Own

Here is a poker variation called “Choose Your Own” that would make an interesting addition to any regular games you enjoy. Much about this variation is reminiscent of 7-Card Stud so it might be an easy transition and an appropriate change of pace if you play 7-Card Stud on a regular basis. This game accommodates anywhere from three to seven players. Play begins with every player contributing to the ante. The first deal follows the ante and each player gets two face-down cards and one face-up card.
