Some people when asked what the world’s oldest profession is will blush and get silly little grin on their face; others will think about it for a moment and then say that farming is the oldest human vocation. Those of you who are in that latter category probably need to get out more. It is a well traveled notion that prostitution is the planet’s oldest service industry job. Trapping with a Raise and a Smooth Call

In poker, a smooth call is something you do when you are trying to trap your opponent and get them to feed the pot with their hard earned money. For example, in pre-flop betting if you are in the late position, but not the last to act, and you have a pair of aces, you may want to encourage action without tipping off how strong your position is. If you are at an aggressive and loose table, chances are pretty good that somebody will not only call the big blind, but raise. In the event that someone raises, you will re-raise them with your pair of Aces.

WPT Event Won by Lee Markholt
