Trapped

Any woman who has ever had the misfortune of hooking up with somebody at a Star Trek convention knows how disappointing something can be when it starts off looking promising, but just explodes before it even gets off the launch pad. This sort of premature lift off also seems to plague less experienced poker players who let their excitement get the better of them when the hole cards show promise. These types of hands are referred to as trap hands. They are to the poker player what acme products are to Wile E. Coyote.

Woman Poker Player Awarded Golden Hand

To continue a great period in her poker life Scandinavian poker wonder kid Annette Obrestad was recently awarded three accolades, including the Golden Hand. Annette_15, as she is known online, became the youngest World Series of Poker champion last year when she won the first ever European WSOP at the age of 18. She recently was honored at the second annual Scandinavian Poker Awards in Copenhagen, where she was also nominated with the Best Performance of the Year award and the Best Female Player title…

England vs. The Danes

A few weeks ago a British court came to the conclusion that poker is not that different from the lottery, or roulette. The guys in powdered wigs declared it a game of chance. And yesterday, the Danish courts ruled that poker was a game of skill. This put it in the same category as football, hockey, or any other sport where an effort has to be made to win. What this means to the Danish player is that in Denmark, poker is legal and can be played with impunity.

Online Poker Room Awards WSOP Seat

The 2008 World Series of Poker is still months away, but the seats to the main event are already being won by online poker players. That was the case when a player known as JudasBlue picked up a prize package, beating out 100 other players to secure his seat in Vegas this summer. The player, from northern California, won’t have as far to travel as some but all his travel costs should be covered by the $12,500 WSOP prize package, which also covers the $10k buy in to the main event…
