Why Is Online Poker Better Than Other Forms Of Online Gambling?

Published by webmaster under Blog Posts

With the abundance of new poker blogs, poker news sites, major poker rooms, like Littlewoods poker, and online poker schools popping up, it is quite obvious that online poker is taking off in popularity. But why is that? Why is an online poker site better than other forms of online gambling, like roulette, craps and slot machines?

Here are a few reasons why:

More Involvement
Online poker, especially games like Texas Hold’em and Omaha Hi poker, offer very high levels of involvement. When you play a slot machine, all you do is put a credit in and pull the lever. For roulette, you place a bet and wait for the marker to fall on a number. Craps, almost the same thing. However in poker, you are making decisions, you have to think, and you are actually involved in the process. You have the sensation of actually being in the game, and not just standing on the sidelines.

More Control Over Outcomes
Online poker allows you to have control over the outcomes. Most casino games are strictly games of chance, and you are only betting on potential outcomes. But online poker allows you to actually affect the outcome of the game. You can make plays, make different bets, and out play other players to make more money. There is no other form of gambling where this is possible.

More Profit Potential
Online poker offers the highest level of profit potential out of all online casino games (except maybe for progressive jackpot games). There is no other game where you can go somewhere, sit down, start playing, and feel consistently confident that you will leave with more money than you came with. Sure, with some other casino games, you may win a large jackpot once in a while, but generally speaking, playing online casino games is a losing proposition financially. This is not to say they are not fun and don’t generate excitement, because they do, but if profit making is your main objective, the online poker room is where you need to be.

If you want to become more involved in your online gambling, have more control over the outcomes and have more profit potential, why not try and play poker online. It is lots of fun, it’s popular, and can make you a lot of money. Stop waiting and start playing today!

Poker Book Review: Roy West’s 7 Card Stud: 42 Lessons

Published by webmaster under Blog Posts

If you’re in the market for a new poker book to check out, consider picking up “7 Card Stud: 42 Lessons” by Roy West. West, a frequent contributor to CardPlayer Magazine, has been in the poker business, both teaching and playing, for over 20 years. Although this book came out over a decade ago, the lessons within are as fresh today as they were back then. Besides, picking up a book once in a while might be a good complement to your usual internet poker guide.

Why Buy a Book About Stud Poker?

Although Texas hold’em has been one of the most popular poker games of the 21st Century, it is far from the only game out there. Seven-card stud is still available in live casinos and online in most Internet poker rooms. Furthermore, since there are fewer books and courses available on seven-card stud as opposed to Texas hold’em, the knowledge gap tends to be much greater. If you can master seven-card stud, you may have a big advantage over players who have just randomly stumbled into a stud game looking for a change from their usual Internet hold’em fare. If you are planning to bring your game to a Caribbean stud poker game you might also find this book useful.

Mastering stud poker can also increase your playing options. You may find yourself in a situation where only a stud game is available, or that the best game available is a mixed game where a variety of poker games are played. Some forms of stud are invariably part of such games and you will need to know how to play them well to survive.

Why This Book About Stud Poker?

The subtitle of this book is: How to Win at Medium & Lower Limits. If you are new to stud, this is exactly where you are going to start, making this the ideal book to learn with. The 42 lessons are extremely easy to read and digest. As the title suggests, the book is broken down into 42 lessons or “courses.” The courses are further grouped into nine parts: The Stuff of Winning Poker, Third Street Strategy, Fourth Street Strategy, Fifth Street Strategy, Sixth Street Strategy, Seventh Street Strategy, Roy’s Rule #1, More of Roy’s Rules and Tournament Tactics by Tom McEvoy.

The book is characterized by simple lessons, which then receive detailed attention. Advice like “your most important decision is whether or not to play your first three cards,” is expanded upon with thoughts such as “the nature of starting with trips is that they will either win you a stack or lose you a stack or two.”

Pick up this book and learn a few tricks about seven-card stud. You can get your copy here.

Just be sure your personal computer is on hand, since you will probably want to jump into an online seven-card stud game before you’ve even reached lesson 21.

Under Age Poker Players Now Legal

Published by webmaster under Blog Posts

In Tama, Iowa, poker players who have yet to hit their twenty first birthday won’t be in violation of the law if they are playing poker at the nearby Meskwaki Casino. A plan has been put forth and approved by the Tribal Council to allow players from as young as 18 to play poker on site. Larry Lasley, a spokesman for the tribe, says this is possible because the casino does not provide the prize pool when poker is played: it is generated by the player’s buy ins, and the Tribe will not earn money from these games.Related Articles:Online poker site cleared of chargesNew York poker game shut down…
